Our Design Process
A few things you should know:
- The purpose of our Discovery Call is to determine whether we are a good fit for each other. It is not a commitment on behalf of either party.
- At any point during your project, you can ask us to select & oversee the professional installation of art & accessories for you. You don’t have to lift a finger.
- Lead time for design work, from initial visit to design presentation, is typically 4-6 weeks and depends on the size of your project.
#1 | Get to Know You
After your book a Discovery Phone Call with us, we'll chat with you to determine whether we should work together on your project. At this time, we will ask you about your project, deadline, and budget.
We want to ensure that we are establishing the right expectations for you and your project from the very beginning, and we won't hesitate to make other suggestions if we feel any aspect of your project isn't aligned with our mission. We aren't after your pocketbook; we want you to love your home and to enjoy the design process. Our Discovery Call ensures that this will happen.
#2 | Site Visit & Measure
We’ll meet with you at your home or place of business (or, if it’s under construction, at a location of your choosing) for an initial consultation. At this meeting, we will look at the space(s) to be designed, the pieces to be included in the design, review design needs and style, go over any available architectural drawings, and finalize the budget.
Immediately after the meeting, we will send you a Service Agreement outlining the scope of work, our design fees, and other pertinent terms and details pertaining to your project. Once you’ve approved the Service Agreement, we will go to your home or business to take measurements and photos of the room(s) to be designed.
If your project is a full renovation or new build, we will have a separate meeting with the architectural team, general contractor and/or builder.
#3 | Design Plan & Presentation
We will create a design plan based on what we have learned from you, as well as our own creative ideas. This typically takes 4-6 weeks from the initial visit, although it may take longer depending on the size of the project. We will then present our design to all decision-makers.
Depending on the scope of the project, we will provide you with photos, floor plans, renderings, elevations, fabric and paint samples, and/or samples of other materials we recommend, as well as a detailed proposal with pricing for each item or service.
This phase may consist of a series of presentations as we move from concept to final design.
#4 | Implementation
Once you’ve approved the final design and proposal, furnishings and materials are ordered, and all work is scheduled. From now until the construction is complete and/or the furnishings are delivered, you will be waiting awhile (from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the project) to see the final transformation from concept to reality. Please know that we are working diligently behind the scenes, following up on all orders and ensuring delivery of all fixtures to the job site, as well as communicating with you, and your builder, architect, and/or contractor, to answer any questions and check in on your project as needed.
We’ll provide you with regular updates and, as always, we will be available to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
#5 | Installation & Accessorizing
Once all items are in and have been fully inspected, we will schedule white glove delivery of all furniture and large accessories and rugs, as well as professional window treatment installation.
