How to Add Your Personality to Your Home's Design
You may not believe it, but you have a unique story to tell. No matter what your style preferences are, your living space can and should share that story. After all, your home is a reflection of you — and you were not made by a cookie-cutter. Without you, it’s only a house.
One fun and practical way to add your personality to your space is to incorporate an original work of art. No, I don’t mean enrolling in a Paint & Sip class during your few free hours after work. I’m referring to local art, and before it scares you off, let me dispel some common myths...

Art in Real Life
“Good taste” is not required to find a piece that speaks to you. Art is a feeling. When you know, you know.
There are many artists right here in the DC/Metro Area who are absolutely worth your time. You can find paintings, photographs, jewelry, sculptures, you name it.
You don’t have to sell a kidney. Original art is diverse and available at all price levels. Here are a couple of my personal favorites from last year’s Western Loudoun Artists Studio Tour:
You never know what you’ll find at art festivals, but there’s quite literally something for everyone. Plus, browsing will give you an idea for your likes and dislikes, and you can get the names of artists and galleries whose work you want to keep an eye on. If you’re lucky, you may even take home a piece that has meaning to you.
Here’s a quick list of some upcoming festivals I recommend. Type them into your calendar (or pencil them in, if that’s still your jam) and go enjoy some local surprises!
Best Upcoming Art Festivals in the DC Metro Area

May 12-13 Bethesda Fine Arts Festival
